Faith Baum is an artist based in Lexington, MA.
Most cities, streets, and homes are shaped by the way they are used. Within the buildings that line our streets, we place furniture and objects that accommodate our daily lives. Inside and outside, these physical assemblages, like marks on a canvas, display the moods and characters of the owners, traces of our lives. My paintings, drawings, and prints are about the relationship between people and the places where they live.
My art practice is dedicated to sharing my observations about how we touch our homes and workplaces. I make paintings, prints, and drawings that reflect the unique considerations that I gained as I practiced architecture for the past four decades. I have changed mediums, but I continue to ask the same questions: What is that? Why is it like that? Who is it for? These reflections are about expressing the unseen in the material facts of our lives.
